What Is CA (Chartered Accountant) ?

Eligibility To Become A CA (Chartered Accountant)

—- A person who cleared the CA FINAL examination conducted by ICAI , completed ARTICLESHIP TRAINING and GMCS (General Management And Communication Skill Course), then he is eligible to register as a member of ICAI and designate as a CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT.

Procedure To Become A CA (Chartered Accountant)

—- To become a Chartered Accountant you have to clear three level of examination and complete articleship training , orientation program, ITT, Advanced ITT and GMCS.

CPT(COMMON PROFICIENCY TEST) – It is the entry level of CA course. One may appear for CPT after appearing in class 12th (IN ANY STREAM).
CPT exam is held two times every year in JUNE and DECEMBER.A student should get registered with ICAI before 1st April for June and 1st October for December examination.
There are 4 papers in CPT. This test is held for one day in two sessions, combining all 4 papers.

IPCC/IPCE (INTEGRATED PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE COURSE) –
After passing CPT and class 12th one is eligible for registration of IPCC.

There is also a direct entry system in IPCC. If there is a commerce graduate or post graduate with 55% or other stream graduate or postgraduate with 60% then he may get directly register for CA IPCC without passing CPT.
IPCE is held in MAY and NOVEMBER month every year.One can appear in exam after completion of 8 months of study course as on first day of month in which examination is held. That mean if a person clears CPT DECEMBER 2016 and get register for IPCC then may appear for IPCE NOVEMBER 2017.

There are two groups in IPCE, FIRST GROUP & SECOND GROUP. First group combines 4 paper and second group 3 paper.

ORIENTATION PROGRAMME (OP) & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY TRAINING (ITT) –
Students have to undergo 15 days Orientation Programee and 100 hours (1 month) Information Technology training.

ARTICLESHIP –
After passing Either Both groups or First group and completion of OP & ITT, one can get register for Articleship Training under any Practicing Chartered Accountant.
The tenure of training is 3 YEARS.
During the tenure of Articleship one can appear for IPCE SECOND GROUP , if it is not cleared earlier.

CA FINAL –
After passing Both Groups of IPCC , a student can get register for CA FINAL. One can appear in CA FINAL EXAMINATION during last 6 Months of 3 Years of Articleship Training.
CA FINAL also consists two groups First & Second,4 paper in each group and in total 8 paper. One may appear for both group or any one group as per choice.

ADVANCE ITT-
During the last year of training and before appearing in exam , one have to complete ADVANCED INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY TRAINING of 100 Hours.

GMCS –
GENERAL MANAGEMENT AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS is a 15 days training which have to be completed before membership.

MEMBERSHIP –
After passing both groups of CA FINAL And completion of GMCS, one is eligible for enrolling with ICAI as a Member, if completed age of 21.

Now u can designate as a CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT (CA).
